Fibertop® is an impact absorbing, recreational surfacing product comprised of 100% natural wood fiber used in conjunction with a companion filtering and drainage system.
Fibertop®’s virgin wood fibers are processed through a special grinding, screening and blending system that produces a clean uniform chip with the fiber content required to promote matting. From here, it is processed directly into the truck that delivers it to the site.
Fibertop® Impact Surfacing produces impressively high performance results on impact attenuation tests making it one of the most desirable systems available. Fibertop®’s wood fibers naturally mat together to form a consistent layer that provides barrier-free access for wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Our systems install within hours with minimum disruption to play time and are easily installed by the do-it-yourselfer. Fibertop®is 100% Canadian and is backed by a comprehensive warranty and product liability insurance.
- DOES FIBERTOP® COMPLY WITH PERFORMANCE AND ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS?
- HOW LONG WILL FIBERTOP® LAST?
- DOES FIBERTOP® BURN?
Fibertop® has been tested to comply with CAN/CSA Z614 for impact attenuation. Fibertop® is an IPEMA certified product and has been tested by TÜV SÜD America Inc. to meet ASTM F1292-09 and ASTM F2075-10a. Fibertop® is an accessible product and has been tested to meet ASTM F1951-09b Standard for Accessibility of Surface Systems Under and Around Playground Equipment.
Fibertop® systems 612 SD and 612 AD are warranted for 25 years provided installation, maintenance and drainage have been completed according to the system instructions provided.
After installation and compaction, Fibertop® is virtually impossible to ignite as the matted consistency of Fibertop® lacks the oxygen content required to sustain fire.
- IS THERE A DANGER OF SPLINTERS?
- WHAT IF A CHILD WERE TO EAT FIBERTOP®?
- IS MOLD OR MILDEW A PROBLEM?
- WHAT ARE FIBERTOP WEAR MATS?
Splintering is sometimes a perceived problem with wood fiber surfacing. With Fibertop®, this is not the case. In order to sustain a splinter, an individual’s skin must be abraded against a fixed surface. Fibertop® moves with the body and therefore the incidence of splinters is extremely rare.
Fibertop® is a natural wood product and is completely chemical free.
We have never had an instance of mold or mildew in a Fibertop® installation. Mold and mildew are usually associated with poor system drainage. For this reason, we do not recommend the use of strip drain systems on inground applications. Our Fibertop® 612SD Strip Drain system is designed for use on concrete or asphalt above ground systems only. For all other applications, use our Aggregate Drain system. If you encounter a mold or mildew problem with your system, please call or email us.
Fibertop® Wear Mats are used in areas where kick-out can occur such as slide exits and under swing seats. They measure 48”x48”x2.5” and are made of high quality, recycled rubber with an integrated, recycled foam core. They can be buried in the middle or placed on top of the wood fiber layer. While preserving impact attenuation, they also act as an indicator to the maintenance personnel that raking or topping-up is required. Fibertop® Wear Mats may also be installed and secured with our optional anchoring kit.
